Job Description

SALT Dental Partners is a rapidly growth dental service organization and is looking a Vice President of Compliance. The Vice President of Compliance will serve as the lead resource for dental practices on compliance and business ethics issues. The VP will be responsible for planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining practice management healthcare compliance programs, policies, and procedures that promote a culture that fosters ethical and compliant behavior and provide the basis for ensuring adequate internal controls and compliance with all the laws and regulatory requirements applicable to the practice management entities. The VP is responsible for the development, dissemination, and implementation of policies, standards, and related administrative policies in areas that may include, but are not limited to, Medicaid, HIPAA, fraud and abuse laws, state and federal false claim acts, unauthorized use of assets, improper or inadequate documentation, billing and coding and adherence to regulatory compliance and all applicable laws and regulations related to healthcare.

Ideal location: California or Phoenix. Will work onsite in Phoenix, AZ.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $150,000

Essential Duties amp; Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, revise, and oversee the Company’s Compliance Program administration for dental practices. Work closely with other departments to ensure compliance in all other areas specified in the Compliance Program.
  • Design, conduct, and document an annual risk assessment to determine key compliance risk areas for the Company and dental practices. Incorporate identified risk areas into the Compliance Program with identified risk management strategies including, but not limited to, training needs, monitoring activities, and auditing activities.
  • Review and revise the Compliance Program as appropriate to address the Company’s needs and regulatory changes in the law and policies and procedures of government and private payor health plans specific to dental practice entities.
  • Develop, implement, revise, and oversee a program to educate and communicate the importance of ethical behavior to all employees, vendors, contractors, volunteers, and dental staff specific to dental practice entities.
  • Develop, implement, revise, and oversee the administration and training of disseminating the Compliance Program.
  • Train senior management regarding the Compliance Program and their essential role as a resource to staff specific to dental practice entities.
  • Advice and counsel senior management on health care compliance and ethical business practices, keeping abreast of changes that may affect the Company specific to practice management entities.
  • Advise and oversee the training of all staff regarding healthcare compliance in each practice.
  • Monitor, respond to, and resolve all healthcare compliance and ethics issues that arise from the reporting mechanisms of dental practice management entities, including but not limited to reports from individuals and the Company’s Corporate Ethics Hotline.
  • Develop policies, programs, and training that encourage managers and employees to report suspected fraud and other improprieties without fear of retaliation by maintaining and publicizing a confidential and easily accessible system for employees to report alleged violations of standards without fear of retribution.
  • Oversee the Corporate Ethics Hotline according to government guidelines and industry best practices, and communicate any matter deemed potentially illegal, unethical, or otherwise abusive or improper to Company counsel as appropriate specific to dental practice management entities.
  • Communicate all matters of required external reporting to the practice management entities governing Board, Executive Management, and CEO, involving legal counsel as appropriate.
  • Plan, schedule, and lead practice management entities governing Board updates regarding healthcare compliance.
  • Oversee compliance with clinical credentialing standards, working with Human Resources as appropriate, to ensure the Company does not contract with or employ parties deemed to be excluded from participation in government programs via the HHS List of Excluded Individuals amp; Entities and the GSA list of debarred contractors specific to dental practice management entities.
  • Develop, implement, revise, and oversee Company-wide compliance training standards, working with Human Resources as appropriate to ensure documentation of classes for new employees as well as annual refresher courses for all other employees specific to dental practice management entities.
