Job Summary

The Tax Manager will be an integral part of the Accounting department and will lead US tax compliance, accounting, financial reporting and US tax planning for Urban Grid. Serving as a subject matter expert, the ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of US federal and state corporate tax accounting and compliance requirements for a private company.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of all Urban Grid tax matters, including income tax, property tax, and other state and local taxes.
• Manage Urban Grid’s quarterly and annual tax provision process to ensure accurate and timely tax accounting and disclosure;
• Manage US tax compliance process, including providing internal schedules to external tax preparers, timely response of all inquiries and final review of returns for accuracy;
• Coordinate communication between internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely compliance and support of various parties’ deadlines and requirements;
• Lead Federal and State government tax audits for Urban Grid, including dealing directly with IRS and state auditors as required;
• Manage and oversee timely resolution of IRS or state income tax notices;
• Manage and support tax planning initiatives with Brookfield, as required.

Requirements

• Qualified CPA or other equivalent with at least 7 years of ASC 740 and/or IAS 12 experience;
• Strong technical knowledge of US Federal and State income tax and willingness to stay abreast of ever-changing tax and compliance rules;
• Experience in reviewing corporate and partnership tax returns and meeting compliance deadlines;
• Experience managing partner capital accounts and basis adjustments; Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Strong technology skills working with MS Office products (Excel) and ability to leverage technology skills to more efficiently handle business needs and improve processes already in place;
• Ability to multi-task and work in a team-oriented environment;
• Self-motivated, proactive, and possess exceptional project management skills
• Experience with partnership taxation is a plus
• Experience in renewable energy industry is a plus
• Familiarity with HLBV accounting principles a plus
• Prior experience with property, state, and local taxes a plus, but not required.

Location: Preferred location is in Houston, TX. Role is hybrid / remote depending on team requirements.

Salary: Commensurate with experience.
