User Interface Intern
Join our Software team here at Lightmatter! We are a photonic computer company redefining what computers and human beings are capable of by building the engines that will power discoveries and drive progress in a sustainable way. With modern human progress relying heavily on computers, the world has hit a dead end with traditional transistors and the prospect of constantly building data centers is an environmental nightmare. Lightmatter has created a solution in photonic computing: using photons instead of electrons to take advantage of their higher bandwidth. We build chips for artificial intelligence computing. Our architecture leverages unique properties of light to enable fast and efficient inference and training engines.
In this internship opportunity, you will work as part of the Systems and Platforms team. You will have the opportunity to:
- Support the design and development of user experience for Lightmatter’s photonic computing applications
- Help to create storyboards, wireframes, and models for UI/UX flows
- Work with senior UX engineer to deliver a consistent and exciting brand experience
- Evaluate and inform the selection of frameworks for product development and UX tech stacks
- Develop small applications for prototype demos in environments such as React or Angular and libraries for CLI development.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an engineering university program, in Computer Science or related field
- Exposure to multiple UI frameworks (React, Angular, etc.)
- Proficient in Javascript
- Exposure to Databases and related Programmatic interfaces
- Willingness to learn from an exciting team!

We offer competitive compensation. The base salary range for this role, inclusive of all US locations, is $25-$42/hr.Your hourly pay will be determined based on location, experience, educationalbackground, and market data.
