The Aviation Security and Public Safety department is looking for a dedicated Systems Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in implementing and managing network and enterprise systems, diagnosing and resolving routine and advanced issues, and ensuring the integrity and availability of our infrastructure. Enjoy a flexible telecommuting schedule (2 days remote and a required twenty-four working hours on-site at the San Diego International campus) while analyzing capacity and performance of systems, make informed recommendations to stakeholders, and develop detailed architecture documentation and standard operating procedures, and;

  • Configures, implements, and supports all the enterprise applications, hardware, and software and manages a mixed environment of Microsoft, HyperV, and vendor appliance solutions; maintains remote systems and vendor relationships with offsite cloud service providers; assesses and recommends solutions to improve performance; automate tasks; maximizes capacity and resiliency; applies operating system patches, firmware updates, and vulnerability remediation according to cyber security best practices.
  • Configures, implements, and supports the following technologies:
  1. Microsoft Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 Operating system
  2. Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft AD Certificate Service, Microsoft HyperV, SQL Server 2017, 2019, and 2022, Microsoft IIS
  3. VMware Vsphere, VCenter, ESXi hypervisor, Dell VxRail, or other hyper-converged infrastructure and virtual machine solutions
  4. Support and manage 3rd party software: Physical Access Control and CCTV Surveillance applications
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves complex system hardware and software issues; increases systems efficiency, accuracy, and consistency using automation and other scripting tools; ensures disaster recovery and data integrity by maintaining local, offsite, and immutable backup copies; verifies completion of scheduled nightly backup jobs; develops and executes contingency and disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintains cybersecurity solutions, including antivirus, anti-malware, web content filters, multifactor authentication, and data encryption; partners with internal and external auditors to conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and audits.
  • Monitors and analyzes the performance of systems; verifies integrity and availability of all server resources, systems, and critical processes; analyzes systems capacity, configures systems, and makes upgrade recommendations.
  • Develops system administrator procedures and documentation for managing operating systems and host-based applications; maintains Active Directory group policies, user accounts, profiles, and access privileges; maintains the internal certificate authority, external SSL certificates, and DNS records; participates in a rotating 24x7 On-Call schedule for critical systems; performs related duties as assigned.
  • Mentors, coaches, and helps to develop more junior staff members. Works collaboratively and effectively with all stakeholders and vendors.
