What We’re Looking For:

We are looking for a talented and driven Software Engineer Intern to support Cloud9’s VALORANT VCT team and the League of Legends LCS team on performance data analytics. The Software Engineer Intern will collaborate with our Technology and Team Operations teams to automate and validate the manual processes around data collection. The Software Engineer Intern will be expected to complete two projects and present the projects to stakeholders.

The ideal candidate must be attending a four-year college/university or a recent graduate and have a passion for competitive esports. The Software Engineer Intern will report to the Software Engineer. This hybrid full-time internship opportunity will begin on 6/3/2024 and conclude on 8/23/2024.

What You’ll Do:

  • Automate and validate any of the manual processes around data collection for VALORANT and League of Legends data.
  • Assist in developing the infrastructure and processes to support data analysis.
  • Develop new dashboards with specific game metrics for the coaches and players to utilize.
  • Troubleshoot and debug existing systems.
  • Present completed projects to stakeholders.
  • Other responsibilities to be assigned.

Requirements

  • Completed at least 3 years of university-level education (or equivalent) in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Must be local to Los Angeles.
  • Must be available to work in the office for a minimum of two days per week.
  • Previous work experience in software development.
  • Familiarity with:
    • Writing code in programming languages commonly used for web development: HTML, CSS, Javascript, Typescript
    • Databases: SQL
    • Modern UI frameworks
    • Working in cloud-based environments: AWS, GCP, Azure
    • Spreadsheet formulas: Excel, Google Sheets
    • The VALORANT Esports ecosystem (players, teams, leagues, tournaments)
    • Experience and knowledge of Valorant statistics
    • Knowledge of League of Legends gameplay
  • High growth-oriented mindset with a strong internal need for achievement. Self-directed in their quest for meaningful challenges and goals versus reactively awaiting direction, or measuring selves by status quo.
  • Applying intelligence to practical, real-world scenarios, where a book solution doesn’t necessarily exist. The ability to solve problems, in a timely manner, with an incomplete picture.
  • Requires active listening skills with an emphasis on understandingthe artful ability to deliver clear and logical thoughts in response.
  • Professionalism in online conduct/social media.

  • The wage for this role incorporates the multiple factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The compensation for this internship is $17.00 per hour.
