Position Overview:

We are seeking passionate and highly skilled tutors to join our team. As a tutor at A+ Tutoring, you will be responsible for delivering one-on-one and group tutoring sessions, developing tailored lesson plans, fostering a conducive learning environment, assessing student progress, and reporting to the student’s parents/guardians. Most of our enrolled students are in the US education system so the instruction language of our tutoring services is English making English proficiency crucial if you are interested in the role. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum C1 level of proficiency in the English language, be excellent at elaborating and communicating ideas, and maybe have some level of teaching experience, although our organization firmly believes that with the right skill and a little training anyone without teaching experience can be a solid tutor. We are looking for tutors who specialize in certain grades and strongly encourage candidates to apply to become middle school or high school tutors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and group tutoring sessions in Mathematics, English, Science, Amharic(language), Computer Science (Coding), Essay/Paper Writing, and SAT/ACT prep
• Develop and implement customized lesson plans tailored to each student’s individual needs and learning style.
• Monitor and assess students' progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
• Maintain a positive and encouraging learning environment to motivate and inspire students.
• Collaborate with other tutors and staff to share best practices and resources.
• Stay current with educational trends and techniques to continuously improve teaching methods.
• Attend regular staff meetings and professional development sessions.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of session reports and student progress.

Qualifications:

• Highschool Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Teaching experience is preferred, but not a strict requirement
• Strong knowledge/skill of K-12 subjects, Computer Science, Amharic, or English Writing
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students succeed.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency with educational technology and online tutoring platforms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching certification or credential.
• Experience with standardized test preparation (e.g., SAT, ACT).
• Experience working with students with learning disabilities or special needs.
• Fluency in multiple Ethiopian language.

Compensation: Your salary will be based on the type of tutoring you will be doing and the number of students you will be handling. 1-on-1 tutors typically get upwards of 3500 Birr per student per month and our group tutors usually have a similar base bay but get extra commission for each additional student.
