Remote Part-Time Full-Stack Developer for Instrument Tuning Web Application - USA company

We're seeking a talented and experienced full-stack developer to join our small team and contribute to an innovative instrument tuning web application. This project utilizes cutting-edge web technologies and audio processing techniques. We are a very small American based company developing software solutions for piano technicians.

Project Details:

Instrument tuning application

Flexible part-time position: 3-5 hours per day, 20-30 hours per week

Direct collaboration with the main developer/owner (no management layers)

AI-assisted pair programming using Cursor (VSCode clone)

Tech Stack:

• Frontend: Next.js 14 with React 18
• UI Framework: Material-UI (MUI)
• State Management: React Hooks
• Audio Processing: WebAssembly (compiled from C++)
• Progressive Web App (PWA) capabilities
• Service Workers for offline functionality
• TypeScript for type-safe development

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain complex React components
• Implement audio visualization features using WebGL or Canvas
• Work with WebAssembly modules for efficient audio processing
• Optimize performance for real-time audio analysis
• Implement and improve PWA features
• Collaborate on API development and integration

Required Skills:

• Strong experience with React and Next.js
• Proficiency in TypeScript
• Familiarity with Material-UI or similar component libraries
• Understanding of WebAssembly and its integration with JavaScript
• Experience with audio processing or visualization is a plus
• Knowledge of PWA development and service workers
• Ability to write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
• Strong internet connection for audio/video calls and screen sharing
• Comfortable with remote pair programming and collaboration tools

Nice to Have:

• Experience with DSP (Digital Signal Processing) concepts
• Familiarity with C++ (for potential WebAssembly optimizations)
• Background in music theory, audio engineering, or instrument tuning
• Experience with or willingness to learn Cursor IDE
• Familiarity with AI-assisted programming tools

• Musical knowledge or experience with music theory is highly valuable
• Ability to participate in audio/video calls and screen sharing sessions
• Comfortable working in a small team environment directly with the owner/developer
