Job Description

To do that effectively, they need training, and not just a couple of slides and a long lecture. We are developing highly technical courses with extensive hands-on labs, complex process and solution diagrams, e-learning courses that can be accessed 24x7, and self-paced labs that get customers deep into AWS technologies.

The AWS Federal Training team is looking for a motivated Technical Curriculum Developer who possesses a unique balance of technical depth, business knowledge, and strong interpersonal skills. You will partner with several AWS teams to develop instructor-led and digital training content around AWS services and features.

The ideal candidate is a smart, innovative, driven, problem solving Technical Curriculum Developer with technical subject matter expertise in one or more IT domains (storage, compute, databases, networking, security, software development, etc.). The candidate will have excellent writing skills and the ability to translate deeply technical content into easy-to-understand training. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have training, instructional design, or technical documentation experience, programming experience, and thrive in an agile environment. Above all, the candidate will have a passion for learning.

This position is located in Herndon, VA or can be filled in one of the other Corporate offices throughout the United States (i.e. Seattle, WA, Portland, OR, Dallas, TX, Phoenix/Tempe, AZ, New York, NY, etc.).



This role involves travel up to 25%.

Some of the key job functions:
· Dive deep into AWS technologies, such as Machine Learning, Big Data, Web Applications, Security, Networking, High Performance Computing, Storage, Databases, Enterprise Applications, Migration Strategies or other solutions areas to understand the services and develop effective training for our customers.
· Collaborate with multiple functional groups to develop training content that educates customers on the full portfolio of AWS services and features.
· Work with subject matter experts to understand training needs and collaborate with technical teams across AWS (including Developers, Support Engineers, Professional Services, and Solutions Architects) to build technically accurate training that meets the learning objectives.
· Utilize automated lab and courseware publishing processes built on AWS.
· Build relationships with AWS service teams to understand roadmaps and plan for content updates or new training offerings. Respond to changes in products/features by revising content at a rapid pace using agile methodologies.
· Facilitate requirements gathering meetings with curriculum stakeholders to define the appropriate learning objectives, modalities and expectations.
· Have very high standards for quality of work and strong attention to detail, following various required guidelines and holding peer reviews for all content developed.

Job Specification

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Bachelor's degree (e.g. computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, programming) or 4 years of relevant work experience in technical industry
· 2+ years of proven experience in one or more IT domains (storage, compute, networking, security, software development, systems administration, database engineering or administration, machine learning, cloud infrastructure, big data, DevOps, or other IT infrastructure domain)/

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Curriculum Development and Training
· 2+ years of experience developing materials for technical training
· Degree in instructional design, adult learning, or other education-related field
· Industry certifications in instructional design, curriculum development, performance improvement, project management, or other content-specific certifications as appropriate
· 1+ years of demonstrated experience in one or more of the following tools: digital content development tools (Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Lectora, Captivate, etc.), graphic design or image editing software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), and related SCORM or Tin Can compliant production tools
· 2+ years of demonstrated technical writing experience
· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint

IT
· Programming or application development experience in a current language such as Java, .NET, Perl, PHP, Ruby, Python, etc.
· 2+ years of experience architecting, deploying, or operating internet-scale applications

AWS
· One or more current AWS certifications (Associate, Professional, or Specialty) or 2+ years of production AWS experience

Government
· Understanding of U.S. Federal Mandates, Security, Standards and Compliance for national security mission systems operating in a multi-tenant infrastructure/platform as a service environment.
· This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen.
