Shared Service Accounting organization provides Accounting and Reporting support and direction on various general ledgers and operating companies. The Accountant will work with his or her Manager to oversee accounting processes for Accounting and Reporting provided to all US companies. The Accountant will also work directly with the business on intermediate accounting activities such as month-end closing process, account reconciliations, preparation/and approval of journal entries. They will provide support and guidance in accordance to Siemens Financial Reporting Guidelines and IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards), and communicate changes related to the Reporting and Accounting guidelines. The candidate will analyze and maintain ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and fiscal reports and will ensure accurate and complete monthly reporting. This role will support SAP FICO financial process and support the financial users.

Role and Responsibilities:

β€’ Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting for SAP/ESPRIT/ADSTAR

β€’ Support month-end/Quarterly close process

β€’ Prepare/Review various account reconciliations

β€’ Maintenance and update of the SAP FICO master data and structures

β€’ Review and research accounting guidelines per International Financial

Reporting Standards.

β€’ Identify and implement process improvements

β€’ Internal and external audit support.

β€’ Customer support - Manufacturing and Sales/Service Business units, Global IT and other departments.

β€’ Coordination and oversight of roster of monthly closing jobs.

β€’ Create and assign SAP authorization roles for users based on guidelines, and handling of SOA for SAP authorizations incl. segregation of duties and role reviews

β€’ Involvement in special IT Projects such as Integration after acquisitions / structural changes, Financial related business process re-engineering/enhancement or SAP upgrade / hot pack updates. (Design, user testing, training, etc.)

Job Specification

Skills and experience:

  • β€’ Experienced in closing and reporting of periodic financials.
  • β€’ Proficiency in SAP and in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
  • β€’ Knowledge and experience in GAAP and/or IFRS.
  • β€’ Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues.
  • β€’ Accuracy and attention to detail is critical.
  • β€’ Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • β€’ Excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills
  • β€’ Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • β€’ Display aptitude for critical thinking, ability to work under tight deadlines and in cross functional team.

Qualifications:

Education

  • β€’ BS/BA in Accounting or Information System, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas. CPA or equivalent preferred
  • β€’ 5-7 year’s public/private Accounting or Information Systems experience
