Our API-first solution allows any merchant to offer extended warranties and protection plans, both online and offline, while also providing a merchant's end customers with a vastly improved and modern support experience that eliminates many of the issues customers face today with legacy underwriters.
We are a venture backed startup based in downtown San Francisco (and since COVID began, fully remotely) that is led by founders who have previously had multiple successful exits. Extend is simplifying the technology stack for the extended warranty industry, in the same way that Stripe did for online payments and Affirm did for consumer point of sale financing.
The Role: We are looking to hire Senior Software Engineers on a variety of different teams from Claims, Merchants and Customers. You will be building an application that gets used in the real world, and is touched by people every day and work closely with the product and sales teams to ship the product. We want someone to be passionate about product quality, user experience, and be a strong advocate for the end user.What You'll Do:

• Design and implement event-driven systems with AWS Serverless technologies.
• Collaborate with members of the engineering, product and design teams to deliver enhancements compatible with the existing platform.
• Influence the overall architecture and provide guidance to junior team members.
• Encourage innovation and foster an environment of continuous improvement.
• Identify areas to improve and scale our architecture and application design.
• Develop robust solutions to manage our data, APIs and other critical back-end features

What We Are Looking For:

• 5+ years of experience in software development primarily on the Backend
• Strong programming skills in JavaScript, preferably TypeScript
• Experience building distributed, highly available, scalable cloud based systems.
• Extensive knowledge around API development with HTTP, REST and JSON.
• Understanding of serverless environments.
• Great communicator.
• Explaining complex technical concepts to designers, support, and other engineers is no problem for you.
• Excellent skills with data modeling and data management.

Nice to Haves:

• Built event driven systems.
• Worked with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, API Gateway and other cloud services.
• Designed systems around microservice architecture patterns.
• Loves test-driven development.
