Job Description

Aeva is building the next-generation of sensing and perception for autonomous vehicles and beyond. With its unique ability to measure instantaneous velocity for each pixel, long range performance at high resolutions, while being free from LiDAR or sunlight interference, Aeva’s 4D LiDAR is built from the ground up at silicon photonics scale for mass market applications.
We are looking for an ISO26262 Safety Manager with 5+ years of experience in the automotive application space. Proven record of taking defining safety requirements together with automotive customers and lead the functional safety activities from concept to final product.What you'll be doing:
  • Lead safety related activities for sensing system and ensure product and processes are ISO 26262 compliant
  • Lead ASIL analysis and compliance strategy
  • Create documentation and manage traceability of requirements per ISO 26262
  • Gather and negotiate functional safety requirements from OEMs and Tier 1s and break them down into clear and specific requirements for the Aeva components
  • Work closely with internal teams and suppliers to define functional safety interfaces between project partners
  • Drive functional safety tasks across multiple engineering disciplines including preliminary hazard analysis, DFMEA, FMEDA, qualitative and quantitative fault tree analysis, QA of embedded HW/SW systems, audits and reviews, and supporting functional safety validation tests
  • Generate DIAs and other necessary functional safety information for supplier systems/components
  • Collaborate with safety consultants.
  • Create and manage a team of Functional Safety engineers
  • Occasional travel, including international travel, might be required
What you have:
  • Work experience as a safety engineer/safety manager in an automotive application
  • Detailed knowledge and experience with ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and/or other standards and practicesKnowledge and experience with Functional Safety Theory
  • Strong systems engineering fundamentals
  • Experience with Product Development Life Cycle
  • Proven record of taking customer requirements from design to production
  • Ability to lead by coaching and mentoring technical staff
  • Desire and ability to learn new concepts quickly
  • Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Robotics, Systems Engineering, or a related field
Nice-to-haves:
  • ISO 26262 Functional Safety Professional or Expert certification
  • Experience with Lidar sensors
  • Experience with ASIC development
  • Experience in Software Quality and process ( e.g., SPICE, CMMI )
  • Knowledge of Requirements Management tools ( e.g., JAMA )
