Alter was founded five years ago out of Stanford’s Graduate School of Business. Alter currently works with 25 ventures in countries across Asia and Africa including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, Pakistan, and Turkey this year. Since 2015, our ventures have created 2,334 jobs, now generate est. annual revenues of $492M+, and serve 2M+ customers.

The Alter Fellowship Program is designed to provide professionals with the opportunity to work alongside the executive leadership of rapidly growing companies in emerging markets on key strategic initiatives. Alter selects these companies because they are at the forefront of technological and business innovation in their respective market environments. The applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and early applicants have a better chance of acceptance/finding a venture match. Orientation will take place on February 12-14th and first day with the ventures is February 15th, 2021. These dates are tentative pending COVID-19 situation.
Training
Alter will organize an orientation and a short training program for the Fellows to meet each other and learn more about Alter’s model and its partner companies. The orientation includes training on business cultures in Alter’s countries of operation, briefs on host organizations, and resources that the Fellows will have access to on the ground. The orientation will allow the Fellows to meet and bond with their cohort and meet Alter’s staff and supporters. Location of orientation TBD.
Program structure
Fellows have the option to embark on project-based experiences lasting between six and 12 months. Host companies will provide Fellows with housing, transportation, and a stipend that will be sufficient to cover living expenses within the country. The Fellow will be embedded within the organization and report to senior management within the host organization.
