PredictIt is a real-money, on-line futures market that enables the public to make predictions on the outcome of political events, such as elections, government policies, legislative decisions and world events. The site operates as a simple exchange or market in which traders buy and share shares in a wide variety of potential outcomes in the hopes of financial gain.

PredictIt is a project of Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, a not-for-profit university, and is operated for educational purposes. The site is supported by , a U.S. provider of political compliance and verification services. PredictIt operates under the terms of a No-Action Letter granted by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in October 2014.

PredictIt is looking to hire an individual to join its Markets Management team. This person will be responsible, along with colleagues, for designing and developing new markets (questions on event outcomes) that appear on the site, and managing communications with various stakeholders.

Primary Responsibilities

• Follow daily political and economic developments in the United States and globally;
• As part of a team, develop new ideas for markets of interest to academic researchers and the trader community;
• Serve as a liaison to researchers, traders, political activists and others interested in PredictIt markets;
• Day-to-day administrative responsibility;
• Research political developments, legislation, rules and procedures as relevant to market creation.
• Coordinate and undertake relevant external communications;

Requirements

The Right Type of Person

• 5+ years of work experience in a relevant field.
• You are a political junkie’. You would follow the ins and outs of politics, from policy positions to idle gossip, on your own time if it were not part of your job.
• You have specific and substantial experience working or volunteering for a political party, candidate, elected official or civic organization.
• You have very strong writing skills, which you can use in a broad range of circumstances, from legal language to social media and all points in between.
• You have at least four years of post-secondary education in a relevant field.
• You are familiar with the PredictIt trading platform. Other financial or trading experience is also an asset.
• You are a self-starter and able to work successfully from a home or remote setting.
