Engineering Lead

We are looking to establish a foundation for our Product and Engineering management organization with our first leadership hire. This role reports directly to the CTO and is intended to be a springboard to an Engineering Manager position as our team continues to grow quickly.

As an early engineering leader, this role is responsible for codebase health, product infrastructure, and the culture and operations of the engineering team. This person will serve as an expert on our entire technical stack and so a good candidate has had many years experience as a contributor implementing production-grade software with similar technologies.

Primary responsibilities

• Coordination among engineers for parallelized development
• Code review and codebase health
• Monitoring and triaging application stability
• Fielding ad hoc cross-functional tech needs
• Sprint burn-down, velocity, and on-time delivery
• Feature architecting
• Sizing and prioritization of engineering work items
• Material code contribution

Requirements

• 1+ years leading an engineering team of 3-10 developers
• 8+ years experience writing production-grade software
• Strong command of CSS and style processors
• Experience building web apps with React and Redux
• Familiarity with Webpack or task runners like Gulp, Brunch, or Grunt
• Experience building web services with Python
• Strong familiarity with several web frameworks like Flask, Django, Spring, Rails, etc
• Expertise with REST and principles for robust API design
• Expertise with ORMs and underlying query structures
• Experience with relational database query optimization
• Experience provisioning, configuring, and deploying core infrastructure for modern web services
