Position Title amp; Overview:

As a frontend engineer, you'll be tasked with contributing to the visual development of our products. What matters most of all is a keen eye for design and expert-level knowledge of CSS, but if you feel yourself drawn to the JavaScript side of frontend development, this role can be flexible for you.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development of our in-house design system used in our various publisher-facing dashboards and WordPress plugins.
  • Contribute to the development of WordPress child themes for Trellis, our theme framework.
  • Contribute to other projects that require expert-level knowledge of CSS and frontend development.

Requirements

Location:

  • Must currently live in the United States.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of HTML and CSS experience. You should know HTML semantics like the back of your hand and be familiar with the latest and greatest in CSS properties, while being mindful of browser compatibility.
  • 1+ years of JavaScript experience. We can provide plenty of hands-on training, but you should know the basics.
  • Pride in accessibility. You should understand the proper use of ARIA attributes and ADA compliance.
  • Comfort working with design teams and translating mockups from tools like Figma or InDesign into code.
  • Comfort with CSS preprocessors. (We use SCSS.)
  • A keen eye for design. While you won't be designing assets directly, attention to detail and a good sense of aesthetics is essential.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience with React, TypeScript, and CSS-in-JS are huge plusses. (We're big fans of styled-components.)
  • Experience contributing to a design system and understanding of reusable components.
  • Experience with WordPress theme development.
  • Experience with automated visual testing is a huge plus.
  • Experience working in a remote environment.
  • Experience with configuring frontend tooling like Webpack, Rollup, or Parcel.
  • Experience with animation, especially in the context of user interfaces.

Benefits

  • Remote work environment.
  • The majority of what you'll work on won't require IE11 compatibility.
  • Travel opportunities (remember those?!)
  • Comprehensive benefits including 401k, Health, Dental, and Vision insurance.
  • Learning allowance.
  • Generous Vacation/Time off policies.
  • Additional side benefits such as home-office upgrades, tuition reimbursement, paid gym memberships and wellness retreats, upgraded flights, cool swag and more.
  • Company match charitable donations.
  • Salary: $85-95k
