Results for Development (R4D)seeks an Executive Director to lead EdTech Hub, of which R4D is one of the core partners.Our WorkEdTech Hub is a global non-profit research partnership.Our goal is to empower people by giving them the evidence they need to make decisions about technology in education.
Technology has the potential to help address the global learning crisis. But that potential is not being realised. Policymakers and other decision-makers face an overwhelming choice of technology solutions, are unclear on what works and what doesn’t, and are forced to make decisions based on low or no evidence.
At EdTech Hub, we commission and undertake rigorous academic research and give evidence-based advice about how to use technology in education. With our help, decision-makers inside and outside of government can make clear, evidence-based policy decisions to achieve maximum impact.
We are focused on the use of education technology in low- and middle-income countries. While we support dozens of countries globally, the six focus countries where the majority of our work will be carried out are: Bangladesh, Ghana, Kenya, Pakistan, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania.EdTech Hub is initially an eight-year, 24 million GBP programme supported by FCDO, the World Bank, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The Hub is a consortium comprised of six core partner organisations; they lead work in three areas: research, innovation, and engagement. Six directors lead these areas of work. More information about the Hub is available here.OpportunityThis role is an exciting opportunity to lead an ambitious global programme that is accelerating progress toward ending the global learning crisis. The Executive Director will lead a diverse team of experts to execute on the vision for the Hub, drawing on the Hub’s deep education, research, policy engagement, and technology expertise. The Executive Director will provide thought leadership, advice, and direction to the global education sector, and mobilise other Hub leaders to do the sameall with the aim of advancing the reach and impact of the Hub’s work. The Executive Director will leverage the Hub’s advisers and partners to maximise the Hub’s influence. This role is one fit for a seasoned leader who will create a culture of collaboration, high performance, and high-quality delivery in service of the world’s most marginalised children, teachers, and systems.
The Executive Director will report to the Executive Committee and lead the Hub, independent from any one institution or workstream. The six directors of the EdTech Hub and the Head of Operations report to the Executive Director. The Executive Director provides leadership, mentoring, and management to ensure a culture of collaboration that leads to high performance in the design, delivery, and promotion of the Hub’s activities.Responsibilities


1.) Strategic leadership of EdTech Hub
  • Lead the Hub to deliver on the Hub strategy and associated objectives, refining the strategy and direction overtime in consultation with the Executive Committee and the Core Delivery Team.
  • Ensure coherence and deep collaboration across current workstreams focusing on research, innovation, and engagement. Increasingly shape the Hub’s work around problems the Hub will tackle in order to formulate a cohesive offering to its users, particularly policymakers. Support directors and their teams to embed this collaboration into the Hub’s strategy and ways of working.
  • Ensure the Hub is equipped to drive the global discourse around EdTech and development, and that it serves a
