Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity as Buyer supporting Plant Operations. This role can either be based out of our Salt Lake City (Utah) distribution center or Preston (Idaho) plant. Fabrication plant, and reports to the Team Leader, Purchasing.

The incumbent will work with a proactive approach and respond to the needs for procurement of goods and services required to support optimize productivity and cost savings at our Fabrication facility.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the purchasing of all goods and services required to support manufacturing operations for the sites including commodities such as Pallets, Lumber, Industrial, Safety amp; Janitorial supplies, etc.
  • Negotiate pricing and Supply Agreements on selected items while maintaining strong supplier relationships
  • Work closely with Strategic Sourcing on cost reduction initiatives to save the facility money
  • Implement solid purchasing practices as per team initiatives
  • Implement KanBan / Min-Max processes to manage inventory levels to ensure that location has necessary materials to run the day-to-day operations
  • Support of 5S and Lean Manufacturing activities

Travel requirement: If the incumbent chooses to be based out of our Distribution Center in Salt Lake City (Utah), he/she will be required to work from our Preston (Idaho) plant twice a week. The travel requirement will be discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

  • 3 - 5 years’ proven purchasing experience
  • Work experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • SAP/S4HANA experience an asset
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Well-developed organization and prioritization skills
  • Intermediate/Expert knowledge of Excel/Microsoft Office
