We’re looking for a Bilingual (English/Spanish) People and Culture Business Partner (HR Business Partner) to work from our future fulfillment center in Houston, TX to support our warehousing and fulfillment teams as we expand throughout Texas and the surrounding area. In this role, you will partner with our fulfillment and transportation leaders and be the key point of contact for the teams in your region. This position reports to the Manager, HR Business Partnership in Vancouver, Canada.

You will significantly impact the Article business by:

  • Supporting the leadership teams in creating a culture which attracts and retains high caliber talent
  • Mitigating risk to the company by aligning the team around our policies
  • Supporting the teams in your region as the first point of contact for questions, concerns, and thoughtful solutions.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for Particles (Article employees) for questions related to People and Culture (P+C) programs
  • Partnering with our Talent Acquisition team to deliver exceptional support on recruiting and onboarding new Particles
  • Identify gaps within your departments you support and propose solutions that support overall P+C strategic plans
  • Partner with location leaders to identify gaps and propose solutions that support overall P+C Strategic plans
  • On-boarding new hires, including drafting offer letters, completing new hire onboarding in our HRIS (BambooHR), working with managers to set up new hires’ office materials, coordinating onboarding activities, leading orientation, reviewing the employee handbook, and coordinating training as needed
  • Contributing to and promoting Article culture, including planning and supporting local employee events
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of HR policies and being the expert for your region’s employment laws and regulations
  • Spearheading and administering retention and employee engagement programs.
  • Administration of P+C practices, systems, programs, and policies in the assigned area to ensure company compliance with employment standards
  • Supporting the performance review process through training and partnering with local leadership to ensure compliance and effectiveness
  • Offboard employees including conducting exit interviews and arranging for exiting employees to participate in the exit survey
  • Assisting in benefits administration and managing open enrollment for your region; supporting employees by answering their inquiries
  • Ensure data integrity in our HRIS systems
  • Actively participate in the P+C projects as assigned

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in Human Resources with training and development, employee relations and recruitment experience
  • Ability to travel within the US and Canada approximately 15-20% of the time (once it’s safe to do so)
  • Experience working with hourly client groups, preferably in a distribution or trucking environment
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able and willing to work in a multi-shift distribution environment; flexible to work different shifts and extended hours when required.
  • Travel to other facilities in your area as required, comprising approximately 15-25% of your time.
  • Good understanding of HR legislation in your area (e.g. employment standards, human rights, health amp; safety, privacy laws, etc).
  • Proven ability to successfully work with individuals at various levels of the organization.
  • A degree in HR management, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • An ownership mindset and are accountable to the business and the team
  • Strong customer focus and exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully work with individuals at various levels of the organization.
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of Microsoft Office or Google suite.
  • Growth-oriented and adaptable to change, comfortable with ambiguity and using judgement.
