Job Description

Plexium is a biotechnology company that is focused on developing targeted protein degradation agents for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. Using our proprietary DELPhe drug development platform, we are discovering and developing novel glue degraders to address significant, unmet medical needs. We are a close-knit team of drug discovery and engineering experts using pioneering platform technologies to discover and develop transformative new drug modalities. Plexium has an open work environment with a positive, friendly, and collaborative culture.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated scientist to support Plexium’s mission of targeting E3 ubiquitin ligases in cancer and other diseases. The candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally with a diverse group of individuals and functions throughout the company. Previous experience in ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) is desirable but not required; creative mindset to learn and execute new things is essential.

Requirements

  • Develop and conduct biochemical and cell-based assays to support E3 ligase hit identification and validation as potential degraders.
  • In collaboration with lead discovery and chemistry characterize to identify novel ligands for E3 ligases.
  • Develop cell-based assays to elucidate mechanisms of action for new E3 ligands and their corresponding degraders.
  • Execute exploratory efforts to integrate emerging screening technologies/assays into internal assay capabilities.
  • Maintain good written records of laboratory procedures and communicate research findings in cross-functional project team meetings.
  • Stay up to date with state of the art in the field of E3 ligase and target protein degradation.

Qualification prerequisites:

  • PhD in biochemistry, cellular or molecular or related field (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with industry experience).
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques, cell culture and basic cell biology techniques such as transfections, Western blotting, and NanoBRET/NanoBiT.
  • Familiarity with cellular thermal shift assay, CRISPR engineering of cells and the use of siRNA/shRNA knockdown techniques to support mechanism of action studies for target identification.
  • Ability to conceive, design and execute hypothesis-testing experiments that directly contribute to project success is essential.
  • Research experience in the field of E3 ligase and ubiquitin proteasome biology is a strong plus.
  • Experience with analysis of high-dimensional biological datasets such as genomics, transcriptomics, or proteomics datasets is desired.
  • Proven track record of successful scientific accomplishments, presentations and/or peer reviewed publications.
  • Outstanding problem solving, troubleshooting and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • An ability to be productive and successful in a fast-paced work environment.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage
  • 401K
  • Generous vacation policy
  • Stock options
