Job Description

Job Summary:

A senior auditor can make decisions on all but the most unusual accounting and auditing matters. When such problems arise, outline issues for the manager or shareholder, including a recommendation, and then executes decision. This role may supervise new audit staff accountants, instruct them in work to be performed, review the work done, and directs necessary revisions.

They are expected to develop and manage time budgets on jobs previously handled and ensure that staff accountants employ methods that will accomplish objectives timely. Displays professional conduct, showing confidence and ease in the presence of staff and client representatives.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Performs diversified accounting, auditing, and tax assignments under the general direction of manager or shareholder.
  • Prepares the engagement letter and any subsequent modifications for approval by a shareholder, responds to and resolves client questions and concerns and ensures a complete understanding of the nature and terms of an assignment, including an estimate of fees.
  • Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards.
  • Manages workload to ensure client deadlines are met.
  • Participates in planning material and content for client engagements.
  • Directs and instructs assistants, where applicable, in work to be performed and working paper review.
  • Manages the preparation, approval, and submission of client financial reports according to the client's instructions.
  • Prepares other reports, projects, and duties as may be assigned.
  • Supervises staff accountants.
  • Develops skills necessary to ensure quality client relationships and loyalty.
  • Ability to work hours necessary to meet deadlines for work assigned.
  • Occasional same day or overnight travel for work at client’s offices, meetings and seminars.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Individuals at this level generally have 5-7 years' experience in audit.
  • CPA
  • Strong technical knowledge and skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong project management and team management skills.
  • Experience in delivery of quality client service.
