Job Description

We are excited to launch this job opportunity to diverse men and women experienced in corporate cost accounting management with a large satellite communications company.

As the Corporate Cost Accounting Manager, you will be a key member of the Corporate Finance Team by taking ownership of all cost accounting transactions and procedures in order to ensure alignment with GAAP, Government, and SOX compliance and company policies across multiple locations (US and International).

Responsibilities:
- Lead a team that is responsible for the monthly close of the inventory module, as well as the preparation/review of monthly journal entries and reconciliations.
- Play a key role in our quarterly reviews and annual audits and support our SOX controls and testing including preparation and review of schedules, interfacing with auditors, and providing meaningful analysis as required.
- Ensure the accuracy of our inventory reserve analyses, cycle count compliance, and financial reporting.
- Develop and implement goals, policies, priorities, and procedures relating to financial management and cost accounting.
- Provide leadership in identifying problems, forming teams, and solving problems on an on-going basis.
- Partner with the Operations and Logistics functions, Project Managers, and Business Unit finance teams to regularly provide guidance in accordance with GAAP, Government, SOX, and ViaSat’s policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 3+ years with a Big 4 public accounting firm experience AND 1 - 3+ years supervisory or managerial experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residence status required
  • CPA
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and accounting theory
  • Highly organized driven individual with drive and propensity to grow within the organization
  • Demonstrated talent for achieving results, meeting deadlines, and handling multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-directed with outstanding communication skills
  • Proven track record of successful process improvement initiatives
  • ERP system experience (Oracle preferred) in a high volume environment
  • Up to 10% travel

Preferences

  • 3+ years progressive cost accounting responsibilities in a manufacturing environment
  • Project accounting and average costing experience
  • Experience in a government contracting environment
