The Cash team is responsible for PayJoy's two end-user products, PayJoy Cash and PayJoy Shrink Wrap. Both Android apps enable a completely self-serve loan application process for personal loans (Cash) and phone financing (Shrink Wrap). As there is no sales clerk around to provide support during the application process we have a strong focus on user experience and ease of use.
Cash was launched in 2020 and is growing quickly. Shrink Wrap is still in the pilot phase - with some neat potential before it. We have a lot of exciting work ahead of us and are looking for Android engineers at all levels of experience.
As a core member of the team, you will build our Android platform into a global solution providing new financial options to millions of users. To get there we'll need smart solutions across a mountain of technical challenges. How can we reuse as much code as possible between both products without confining either? How do we scale up runtime performance while increasing overall reliability? Can we build a platform to rapidly iterate and improve our UI and user experience? How do we work with Data Science to enable more attractive lending products? And many more.
We’re looking for someone with a collaborative spirit who likes to get things done. Someone who is excited by the breadth of challenges before us, and comfortable balancing competing priorities. You’ll get to learn from the challenges in front of you as well as from your talented colleagues.
Currently based in Boston, our team, like many others, has been working remotely (and successfully!) for almost a year. Even pre-COVID we worked closely with our Sales and Operations teams in Mexico, as well as our Engineering and Product colleagues in San Francisco. All of this has gotten us to seriously consider making the team fully-remote going forward. No decision has been made - and currently we are still a Boston-based team - however if you're unable to relocate to Boston and this role interests you, we'd love to talk!
