Job Description:
Forklift Operators will be required to use propane powered forklifts or telescopic forklifts that are designed to unload materials and supplies that are necessary for the plant operation; operators are required to move palletized bagged materials from the conveyor line to the storage yard; operators are required to load both flatbed and box trucks for shipping, using either portable loading ramps or operating off the ground.
Responsibilities:
- Must work safely and responsibly, following all safety policies and procedures.
- Perform equipment checks every day and provide minor service maintenance.
- Moving palletized materials throughout the facility.
- Stack pallets in the correct storage areas
- Re-supplies as necessary, including rolls of stretch wrap, rolls of bagging film, pallets, top sheet, bottom sheet, labels, and other materials as needed.
- Closely follow shipping instructions and loading trucks with proper materials to complete the orders.
- Align pallet stacks vertically.
- Ensure bags are not damaged during pallet handling.
- Examine bag products to verify quality standards.
- Change out propane tanks or fill with diesel fuel, depending on the type of forklift.
- Keep records of production data.
- Communicate all concerns affecting safety, quality, productivity, and the work environment to the Logistics Supervisor.
- Other work as required and assigned by the Logistics Supervisor.
Requirements
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Must have at least 1 year of forklift experience
- Must have high attention to detail in order to prevent injury to self and/or coworkers
- Must be able to speak, comprehend, and read English.
- Must be able to work safely in varying temperatures within the facility and outside year-round.
- Must be able to lift and carry 25 pounds regularly.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally.
