Job Summary:
While working in a fast paced and independent setting, the Employment Consultant will provide assessments, job development, and support individuals with disabilities in integrated community employment. Assist in the process of career planning, discovery and developing jobs (customized employment) that meet the needs of individuals and employers. Serve as a consultant to employers in the areas of training, support, and job customization. Establish effective business relationships with employers and co-workers, family members, funding agencies and residential personnel. Facilitate transportation and provide ongoing consulting and job supports. Meet established team and company goals, while following 245D statute and licensing requirements. Must believe in and promote the mission, vision, beliefs or Accord.
***This position is eligible for a $500 new hire bonus paid in two installments at three and six months***
Job Type: Full Time, Non- exempt
Job Location: Serving clients that reside in Anoka County areas.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain caseload of up to 25 adults with developmental disabilities and related conditions (all ages).
- Attend all planning meetings for individuals on assigned caseload and as directed. This includes acting as Accord's representative for employment services.
- Attend team meetings and training, including CPR, First Aid and Medication Administration and other employment support training.
- Commit to certifications in Discovering Personal Genius or similar discovery methods; Personal Empowerment and other related position requirements within one year.
- Providing on-going support at individual's employment location.
- Conduct detailed job and task analyses including typical instructional and training methods and determine materials, supplies and tools needed.
- Serve as an advocate for persons served by communicating directly with their employers.
- Encourage independence with persons serve to complete their job duties and have a meaningful employment experience.
- Updating and documenting progress to case managers, guardians, families, external teams in a timely manner.
- Develop and implement all 245D paperwork with the support of the administrative coordinator.
- Be responsible for rates of pay, performance measurements, job standards and hours to be worked by individuals.
- Prepare and process all required reports, attendance, payroll, production, and billing records by scheduled due dates.
- Use Gmail, Google calendar and documents on a daily basis, learn new 245D licensing standards, utilize various operating systems, online databases, and online time-keeping systems
- Complete minimum billing standards based on department expectations.
- Have a flexible schedule; nights and weekends may be required
Requirements
Credentials/Qualifications:
- 4-year degree in Human Service or related field.
- 1 year of work experience working with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS) experience
- Demonstrate good written and oral communication skills as well as time management skills.
- Be able to assist with transfers, lift and provide physical assistance to program participants.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and a vehicle available to conduct agency business.
- Positive attitude and a willingness to dedicate time and energy to our mission.
- Must pass a Department of Human Services background study.
Work Environment:
The employee in this position typically works the majority of the time within the community. Candidates will be expected to work generally Monday Friday, 8am- 4:30pm, but available in the evenings and weekends, as needed. The person in this position will work 40 hours per week.
