Complex Networks is seeking a Style Editor to join the Branded Content department. As Style Editor of Branded Content you will be tasked with being the creative partner across Brand Partnerships Studios (BPS) for all RFP downloads and brainstorms in your assigned verticals (see below*). With an expert focus on style apparel/footwear as well as a working knowledge of beauty/grooming and auto, you are responsible for maintaining our brand aesthetic and quality of content across all assigned campaigns. Assigning freelancers and writing as needed, the Style Editor will work collaboratively across Brand Partnerships Studio to both ideate and execute high impact content. Additionally, you will speak to Branded Content best practices both internally and externally, as well as keep abreast of branded content trends and advancements to contribute to the enhancement of the team’s overall workflow.

NOTE: While the above subcategories are your focus areas, campaign assignments will be determined by the bandwidth, content expertise, and timing, which may require you to work on additional categories as needed.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as lead editorial creative on assigned campaigns, including pre-sale ideation and all aspects of post-sale execution
  • Represent Branded Content team internally and externally, on production and in all client calls/meetings when needed
  • Work alongside Project Managers, Production, and Branded Social, as well as the editorial team, to execute branded content packages that address our partner’s business goals while remaining authentic to the Complex brand
  • Collaborate with the Talent team to identify the best subjects to be featured in branded campaigns that both meet client needs and are relevant to Complex’s core audience
  • Work in conjunction with Deputy Editor, Branded Content to identify and match brand partners with organic content for custom and sponsorship integration opportunities
  • Be mindful of performance goals, focused on achieving them, and use key learnings to improve on every campaign
  • Work alongside campaign producers, as well as the editorial team, to execute branded content packages that elevate both the Complex voice and address our partner's business goals
  • Collaborate with the Production team on the development of all assigned shoots, including concepts, locations, models/talent, and timelines
  • Attend assigned photo/video shoots to ensure the editorial vision is carried out and conduct on-set interviews as needed
  • Concept and write stories that stay true to our editorial mission, client needs, and the authentic voice of Complex
  • Oversee and report spending against editorial budgets for all assigned campaigns and ensure all associated invoices are processed in a timely manner
  • Ensure all relevant elements of assigned campaigns are included and regularly updated on the BC Content Tracker, including key dates, live links, and keywords
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers on all deadlines and timelines associated with assigned campaigns, including proactively communicating delays and launch times
  • Keep multiple, concurrent campaigns on deadline
  • Consistently ideate and develop a Branded Content slate of turnkey ideas that help optimize our creative efforts and ability to win new business with custom solutions and turnkey content executions

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience working as a branded content writer or editor, preferably at a media company
  • Strong editing, research, communication, and writing skillsbackground in journalism a plus
