Duties

  • Lead package development and changes across existing products (improvements in quality, productivity, sustainability) and innovation/growth (new products)
  • Work with company leadership, brand amp; marketing, and operations to develop, coordinate amp; refine the current sustainability projects in the packaging aspect
  • Develop standards for packaging quality and durability
  • Manage relationships with manufacturer, operations, and fulfillment to ensure on-time delivery of projects to market
  • Conduct feasibility analysis on designs, manufacturability, costing, and time-to-market. Create development prototypes, engineering drawings, and specifications.
  • Coordinate activities and demonstrate competency with vendors and contract manufacturers, including sourcing and sampling primary amp; secondary packaging
  • Manage assigned packaging initiatives to ensure they meet business needs, inclusive of launch timing, line testing, finished product quality, design integrity, and cost.
  • Identify innovative cost-saving opportunities and continuous packaging improvements

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in packaging engineering, packaging science, or related engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in packaging development in the consumer products space
  • Familiar with packaging technologies in personal care, home goods, or food packaging
  • General understanding of manufacturing processes and quality assurance principles (e.g. CQV)
  • Knowledge of ISTA standards and of material properties and applications needed to pass a variety of transit safety requirements.
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulatory FDA and USDA requirements for packaging.
  • A clear understanding of the application of a broad range of packaging materials, structural design, printing, and manufacturing processes.
  • Should possess the knowledge and resources needed to execute uniform packaging looks and qualities across a variety of substrates, manufacturing processes, and countries of origin.
