The Role

We are looking for the "Host" for The Hotel Castro based in San Francisco. You will serve as the de facto General Manager as the face of The Hotel Castro for guests and the 'jack of all trades' for the operations. To begin, you will be an active participant of the pre-opening team, helping Kasa prepare the hotel for its first guests. During pre-opening, you'll partake in the hotel's operational strategy, assisting with the marketing, social media, and community outreach strategy, developing the revenue management strategy, overseeing the FFamp;E installation, project management, and budgeting. Post-opening, the primary responsibilities will turn to managing day-to-day operations of the property, serving as the property's "host" for VIP guests, special events, and incorporating a personal touch into each guest's stay. Wearing the owner's cap, you will be in charge of the success of the property and will make decisions in the best interest of the hotel. This could be anything from fulfilling guest requests to solving plumbing issues, and from signing group sales contracts to developing revenue strategies. There will be no other staff directly employed on site. Instead, this autonomous role will be supported by a centralized and fully remote team at Kasa, and this role will report to Kasa's GM of Special Properties, who oversees Kasa's growing boutique hotel portfolio.


About the Team

While the primary responsibility of this role will be focused on the success of The Hotel Castro, this role will sit within Kasa's Operations team that encompasses all aspects of property management and the guest experience. The Operations team is a dynamic group of property launch specialists, on-the-ground property operations gurus, and remote guest experience experts who collectively ensure that every Kasa property and every guest stay meets Kasa's high standard of excellence. The team is geographically diverse, spanning every US time zone as well as the Philippines, and also brings a diversity of experience and passion to the table. We constantly challenge our current way of operating in order to unlock new possibilities, and we foster a culture of deep empathy for each other as well as for our guests and partners that supersedes any particular day's challenges.


Day in the life of The Hotel Castro General Manager

This role will be measured by the operational and financial success of The Hotel Castro. By "owning" all aspects of the property, you are essentially a small business entrepreneur and you will have a special amount of influence to drive the success of this unique hospitality offering. In many instances, you will need to act as a "one person team" with responsibilities ranging from room inspections and repairs, to group event planning and VIP guest requests.
