Job Description

Plexium is a San Diego-based drug discovery company that is focused on developing targeted protein degradation agents for the treatment of cancer and other diseases. We work at the intersection of engineering, chemistry, and biology, utilizing DNA-encoded libraries (DELs) and the richness of phenotypic assays to explore new frontiers in drug discovery. Plexium’s biology group is seeking a highly motivated scientist to join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the identification and development of novel small-molecule drugs targeted protein degradation therapeutics. The successful candidate will have extensive hands on experience designing and executing in vivo, in vitro target validation and mechanism of action studies. She/he will be an independent and motivated team player that is able to work closely with others to solve complex problems. Previous industry experience is preferred.

Requirements

  • DVM or PhD in Pharmacokinetics, pharmacology, or related field of Biomedical Sciences with a minimum of 3 years and exceptional non-PhDs with a minimum of 7 years industry experience in small molecule drug development
  • Ability to independently design, plan, and execute in vivo experiments, culture primary and immortalized cells, conduct ex vivo analysis or in vitro experiments to address drug mechanism-of-action and disease-focused hypotheses, data analysis and interpretation.
  • Experience in developing and/or prosecuting in vivo models, including dosing, blood and tissue collection, surgery, and rodent tumor models
  • Expertise in developing focused in vivo strategies and utilizing PK/PD/efficacy data to drive lead optimization amp; characterization as well as translational strategies to enable early clinical development
  • Proven track record of successful scientific accomplishments, presentations and/or peer reviewed publications
  • Outstanding problem solving, troubleshooting and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • An ability to be productive and successful in a fast-paced work environment
