The Child and Youth Mentor will provide caregivers of individuals with special needs a break from their care giving duties by watching the individual while the caregiver participates in another activity. Services may also include assistance with common daily activities and may include light housekeeping, meal prep, driving or laundry. This service will typically be with individuals diagnosed with autism and/or other developmental disabilities in the home, community and clinic settings. Driving to and from locations with client may be required.

Hours Required: Tues/Weds/Thurs from 3-7pm and Sun from 8am-2pm

Child and Youth Mentor Duties/Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Communicate with supervisory staff.
- Stay client focused by allowing personal choice and treating participants with dignity and respect, provide a caring approach to participant needs (emotional, physical)
- Follow the instructions given by the office, family, and participants unless there is a safety issue.
- Make safety a priority
- Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications (provided at no cost)
- Provide personal care that may be required like feeding, dressing, toileting, bathing, lifting, transferring and administer and follow the company’s medication procedures.
- Prepare meals during the respite period and do light housekeeping as needed (based on individual need)
Child and Youth Mentor Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Patience and empathy

- Able to drive to clients’ homes at various times of day.

PayRate
$14 / hour
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age with high school diploma or equivalent
- Clean background and positive references
- Must be able to lift 40lbs, with the potential to run, squat, sit, stand, kneel and more
