Barbaricum is seeking a NOC Technician to support multiple government deployments from Washington, DC. The NOC Technician will monitor distributed computing stacksandrapidly respond to alerts that occur, as well as findanddevelop patterns that are indicative of failuresandwork towards eliminating that possibility. Other duties will include the following: - Perform patchingandsecurity remediation for deployments (LinuxandPalantirapplication patching)- Focus on consistencyandhow to minimize inconsistencies- Apply Linux administration skills to administer large distributed applicationsandclusters- Create new monitoring checks as necessaryandadjust them to a correct threshold- Operate inside a JIRA queue- Work out ofandimprove runbooks that are used for operational supportQualifications
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance required
  • 1-2 years experience administering Linux
  • Hardware troubleshooting fundamentals
  • Relational database knowledge and experience
  • Basic scripting experience (Bash, Python, PHP, etc.)
  • TCP/IP networking fundamentals
  • Experienceandinterest in working in a highly-collaborative setting - sharing best practices, lessons learnedandassisting where gaps exist
  • Experience operating from a ticket queue
  • Hard workingandprofessional
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic knowledge of configuration management systems tools like Puppet, CFEngine, Chef, SpaceWalk or Satellite
  • Experience with monitoring systems such as Nagios
  • Experience with cloud-based hosting platforms like AWS or Rackspace/OpenStack
