Job Description

Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is seeking per diem Session Physicians to join our Clinical Services Team. This position will be based in our region 3 (Central NY amp; Bordering PA) and work less than 21 hours a week.

What the Session Physician does:
  • Direct patient care
  • Provides medical care including medication abortion provision, LARC placement and removal, contraceptive counseling, LEEP provision, and surgical abortion services to 24+0 weeks’ gestation in compliance with PPGNY’s Medical Standards and Guidelines.
  • Participates in the on call system as needed.
  • Clinical consultation and training
  • Provides clinical consultation to advanced practice clinicians.
  • Provides hand-on clinical training to clinical trainees including residents, Fellows, clinicians and students.
Qualifications:
  • A demonstrated commitment to PPGNY’s mission related to bodily autonomy, health equity, and gender and racial justice
  • Current New York State license in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
  • 3+ year’s work experience as an attending physician with experience in reproductive health care
  • Proficient in performing surgical abortion up to 24+0 weeks’ gestational age.
  • Current ACLS/BLS certification
  • You have a demonstrated understanding of the role that racial inequity plays in our society and its impact on healthcare systems and institutions, and consistently integrate your deep understanding of key racial equity concepts into work projects and interactions by addressing structural implications and disproportionate impacts of policies, activities, and decisions on race, class and other group identities within the context of job responsibilities and projects.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and be committed to providing the highest level of customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to relate to diverse communities. Must be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences among staff and patients.
  • Maintenance of professional growth and development through continuing education, including participation in conferences, workshops, and professional affiliations.
  • Demonstrated clinical proficiency, organizational, analytical, leadership and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, non-judgmental and culturally responsive care across race, class, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin or ability; and demonstrates deep sense of accountability to patient experience
  • Willingness to function as a role model and educator.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with members of the health care team.
  • Must be able to work in a busy clinical environment.Demonstrated ability to manage health-related emergency conditions including independent decision-making.
