Planned Parenthood of Greater New York is seeking a per diem Sonographer to join our Clinical Services team.

  • The Sonographer is responsible for performing abdominal and vaginal ultra-sound scans on all referred patients to estimate gestational age.
  • Additionally, the Sonographer performs intra-procedural sonography at medical providers’ request, as needed for services provided by PPGNY.
  • The sonographer works to provide follow-up sonograms, as needed and prepares and signs ultra-sound reports with accompany photograph for medical records. In additional to providing exception patient-centered care while performing sonograms, the sonographers work as part of a larger sonography team.
  • As part of the sonography team, the float sonographer may be asked to train relief staff as needed, order supplies as need, and work to keep exam rooms appropriately stocked.
  • The float sonographer accepts individual and joint responsibility for and participates in achieving established revenue cycle goals, health center efforts to comply with quality assurance guidelines and regulations, and efforts to improve customer relations. T
  • he sonographer understands and commits to modeling excellent customer service in all aspects of health care delivery, works effectively with volunteers, trainees, temps, and agency colleagues and understands and commits to customer oriented approach to health care delivery.
Qualifications:
  • A demonstrated commitment to PPGNY’s mission related to bodily autonomy, health equity, and gender and racial justice
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Certification as a sonography technician in New York State.
  • Patient care experience, preferably in sexual and reproductive health
  • A demonstrated commitment to learning about and enhancing practices related to racial equity and its impact on healthcare systems.
  • Experience with electronic health record implementation
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills, including an ability to work and build trust across cultural differences related to related to race, class, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin or ability; and to reflect on one’s personal identity with humility
  • Previous experience in a high-volume customer service role
  • Ability to provide compassionate, non-judgmental and culturally responsive care across race, class, age, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, national origin or ability; and demonstrates deep sense of accountability to patient experience
