The Payroll Specialist analyzes, prepares and inputs payroll data for Brooks Sports, Inc. and is responsible for reporting, and auditing data to ensure accuracy of payroll. You are part of the Finance team and in your role you will ensure timely and accurate completion of your assigned payroll responsibilities. You will provide excellent customer service to employees, managers and business partners. The Payroll Specialist responds to payroll related inquiries in a professional, clear and thorough manner.Payroll Responsibilities:
  • Prepare, and input multi-state payroll data, using an automated system (ADP) to produce accurate and timely payroll. Support payroll processing on a bi-weekly basis and check data for accuracy and necessary approvals.
  • Prepare the bi-weekly payroll in Canada for review by Supervisor.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of ADP payroll processing and make required adjustments, obtaining necessary approvals
  • Compile, prepare, and maintain various payroll, and benefits reports. Provide general ledger information to Director of Accounting for journal entries.
  • Complete verifications of employment.
  • Ensure accurate set-up of various payroll related items such as garnishments, 401K loans, benefit limits.
  • Assist Payroll Supervisor with payroll systems development and maintenance.
  • Support Payroll Supervisor on the implementation of new policies and procedures.
  • Respond to employee payroll questions in an accurate, timely and professional manner.
  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with employees, vendors, and team members to provide excellent customer service.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Business; may be substituted by specific, relevant payroll experience. 2+ years of specific payroll experience required.
  • Excellent computer and administrative skills, specifically including Microsoft Excel.
  • ADP Workforce Now with an emphasis in payeXpert and ezLabor preferred
  • Workday experience a plus
  • Familiarity with Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA); state wage-hour laws; state and federal taxes; Benefit plans (health, cafeteria, 401k, and disability).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be extremely accurate and detail-oriented with the ability to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute a wide variety of tasks and work in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and independent work habits.
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of the organization.
  • Passionate participation in Brooks’ sports activities a plus, overridden by the ability to understand and empathize with the runner in order to develop loyal, engaging relationships with our customers and the Brooks community.
