Engineering Manager, Web Framework Development

MISSION

Located just 2 minutes from Time Square, our client is the largest and fastest growing publisher online and won over 80 awards last year alone! This position will start remote, but will eventually need to be on-site.

We are currently seeking an Engineering Manager with extensive Java experience. The main focus will be leading the development team that is responsible for building out the next generation of their custom Java web framework. You will lead the platform's evolution to support an ever-increasing number of websites, minimize the effort for each brand team to build and maintain functionality, and most importantly, help increase the developer-friendliness of the platform.

Specifically, you will:

• Partner closely with Product Management, Technology leadership, and vertical developers to ensure our web framework meets business needs.
• Develop technical roadmaps to ensure our framework is well maintained, uses the best technologies for the demands, and continues to improve our ability to develop and maintain multiple web brands.
• Lead, own and drive projects from start to completion including system architecture design, code design, development, and integration.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2+ years experience in a similar management role.
• Expert knowledge of Java/Kotlin and concurrency, web framework architectures, distributed caching and system performance
• Strong understanding of systems design and architecture.
• Deep knowledge technologies underpinning web servers.
• Experienced with Agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban
• Understanding of SDLCs and CI/CD as well as a test driven mindset
• Knowledge of AWS / Cloud providers is a strong plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related technical field or foreign equivalent
