Job Description

Fellow is looking for a Print Production Designer with a strong background in packaging and print production. In collaboration with Fellow’s designers, the production designer’s main focus will be the creation of production ready packaging and print mechanicals.

About the Job

The role will also assist in evolving a new set of brand standards and support with file/asset management and server organization. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in print/packaging production, an exceptional eye for detail, strong collaboration, and self-management and organizational skills. Showcase your design skills by attaching your portfolio to the employment application or including a link in your cover letter.Fellow creates almost everything for the brand, digital, print, events and internal communications in-house and is looking for candidates that can meet a diverse range of production needs. This position will join our Marketing team based in San Francisco, CA.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage production deliverables related to packaging and print design throughout the entire process including laying out artwork, prepping production ready files and reviewing both digital and physical proofs/samples for mass production.

  • Organize and maintain production files and assets on the design server.
  • Produce print ready files handed off by the brand designers.
  • Apply new brand refresh to update current packaging.
  • Looks for ways to make improvements while staying true to the current systems.

  • Produce production ready artwork
  • Maintain best practices for file and server management, including the consistent application of naming conventions, file/folder organization, versioning control, and production specifications.
  • Help coordinate and control quality across various packaging manufacturers in China
  • improve speed and consistency on packaging and printed materials. This will improve revenue by speeding up processes and enabling brand designers to focus more on creating innovative creative for higher revenue launches
  • Final packaging output for all future products.
  • Opportunity to become an expert in printed materials. For example, if they have only worked on packaging before, they will get to work on apparel and trade show printed needs. Build leadership skills through identifying and finding ways for improvement. On a small team and get to work directly with all team members
  • Work collaboratively with team members to understand design intent and final needs.
  • Responsible for the final asset that the customer will see and need to be able to catch errors.
  • Responsible for making sure design is follow the brand systems stay organized so past files are easily found and can be built upon. Fast paced environment that requires self management to ensure work is done on time and to high quality

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • 4 years or more of relevant experience
  • Strong typography, composition and layout skills that ensure integrity of initial design.
  • Experience with Adobe CC (illustrator, photoshop, Indesign), 3D/CAD software (eg. Cinema 4D, 3D Studio Max, Solidworks, Rhino), rendering software (eg. Houdini, Keyshot), or Google Sketchup.
  • Experience working with structural packaging engineers on deadlines and materials
  • Experience sustainable/green packaging experience.
  • Enjoy creating systems and finding inconsistencies over coming up with big sky ideas
  • Strong collaboration, extreme attention to detail, self-management, and organizational skills
  • Experience working with structural packaging engineers on dielines and materials
  • A plus: 3D/CAD software (eg. Cinema 4D, 3D Studio Max, Solidworks, Rhino), Rendering software (eg. Houdini, Keyshot), or Google Sketchup, Keyshot, CAD software
