Job Description


AirMap is looking for an experienced Product Manager, Defense in Southern California to join our Product Management team. As part of the Product Management team you will work closely with our engineers, executives, business development and marketing groups to guide products from conception to launch. You will bridge the technical and business worlds as you design and create compelling product vision and a roadmap that meets specific customer needs.

You'll work hand in hand with AirMappers to ensure not only a successful delivery, but a successful product. You will thrive in this role with a bias toward action and the ability to break down complex problems into steps that drive product development and deliver benefit to the industry.


What else you'll do:

  • Be the Product Owner for key product decisions and for making decisions amongst competing priorities
  • Guide a cross-functional team including engineers and designers to deliver projects
  • Manage project-planning processes (e.g. timeline, milestone tracking) in a lean environment
  • Ensure that all stakeholders are kept fully informed of project status and progress
  • Serve as the voice of customers to define the design attributes AirMap products
  • Gather and distill customer insights through analytics tools, A/B testing, surveys and focus groups
  • Define the features, functionality and user experience across mobile and web
  • Identify and gather product requirements based on deep knowledge of defense market, specific use cases, customer needs and product potential
  • Weave together feature sets and functionality into a consistent and elegant experience across platforms
  • Lead designers to create a compelling and differentiated user experience that accounts for the ergonomic and human factors demands of combat environments
  • Test and evaluate key features and user interactions before each release
  • Benchmark other best-in-class products and assess and select third-party tech to improve the user experience
  • Develop meaningful metrics to track product success and identify ongoing opportunities for innovation and improvement.


Requirements

  • 2+ years experience building products in a high performing, fast-paced environment.
  • 2+ years Defense sector experience
  • High level of competency in core areas of product management practice, including:
  • Conducting customer interviews and user testing
  • Running design sprints
  • Feature prioritization and road map planning
  • Resource allocation
  • Performing market assessments
  • Translating business-to-technical requirements, and vice versa
  • Guiding functional interface design and work closely with UX/UI
  • Defining and tracking success metrics
  • Pricing and revenue modeling
  • UAV, UTM or aviation experience preferred


Please note that an employee in this position will be hired specifically to work on federal government projects that require the employee to be a U.S. citizen. Any offer of employment will be contingent on the individual satisfying the requisite requirements to be able to work on the federal government project.
