We are looking for a Community Integration Specialist to care for the people we support in a professional and compassionate manner. It's an often demanding job as you will have to be available for most of the day and week or weekends. However, it can also be very satisfying and rewarding, since people with intellectual and developmental disabilities can benefit from your support and are thankful for high quality assistance. The ideal candidate will be patient, respectful and friendly with excellent communication skills. You should be able to follow instructions and perform a variety of tasks to enhance the lives of the people we support.
Responsibilities
- Help clients take prescribed medication
- Assist clients with ambulation and mobility around the house or outside (doctor’s appointments, walks etc.)
- Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
- Plan and prepare meals with assistance from the clients (when they are able)
- Do the client’s shopping or accompany them when they shop
- Perform light housekeeping duties that clients can't complete on their own
- Be a pleasant and supportive companion
- Report any unusual incidents
- Act quickly and responsibly in cases of emergency
- Observe and respond to persons physical, social, behavioral and personal needs.
- Provide adequate supervision to people receiving support to facilitate their health and safety.
- Attend and participate in all relevant Health amp; Joy Services, LLC events, workshops, training and meetings.
- Support the person to achieve their highest potential and goals for community integration and contribution, relationship building, vocational exploration, self-determination, learning and personal growth.
- Ensure responsible usage of the person and agency’s resources, e.g. computers, finances, etc.
- Explore the interests and desires of the person being supported.
- Provide support in a manner which respects a person’s right to privacy and upholds their dignity.
- Demonstrate a person-centered practice, an understanding of and commitment to inclusion, and the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Maintain thorough records and documentation as required by DDS/DDA.
- All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent knowledge of emergency response
- CPR amp; First Aid Certification
- Respectful and compassionate
- Good time management skills
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to pass a state background check
- Ability to pass and maintain required trainings

Schedule
- Preferrable 11am-7pm shift however, Part-time is available 11am-3pm or 3pm to 7pm
