Utilizing accounting principles, the Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and statements. The Staff Accountant will partner with leadership to analyzes financial information and inform management of best practices and maintain a healthy financial profile ensuring compliance with state, federal, and local principles.
This position will report to the Director of Accounting.
Essential Functions
- Perform monthly, quarterly and annual accounting activities including reconciliations of bank and credit card accounts as well as assist in the preparation of calendar - closings
- Update accounts payables and receivables, coordination and completion of reports
- Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and journal entries
- Initiate corrective measures by ensuring all databases are up to date
- Provides management with financial information by researching and analyzing accounts
- Develops and implements accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes
- Answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
- Analyzes information and options by developing spreadsheet reports and verifying information
- All other appropriate duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required. 5 years of relevant experience will be considered in lieu of the bachelor’s degree.
- 3 years of similar accounting experience is preferred.
- High level of computer literacy with spreadsheets, word processing and database software and business systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Previous experience with Microsoft 365 and Net Suite preferred.
