The RoleAfterpay is looking for a US Senior Manager of Public Policy amp; Regulatory Affairs. The role is based in San Francisco (with flexible work from home arrangements in place) and reports to the Global Head of Public Policy and External Affairs.
The successful candidate will develop and contribute to the following areas:-Afterpay’s contribution to public policy and regulatory development in the US.-Representing the company with government officials including elected officials and regulators both at Federal and State levels.-Partnerships and engagement with industry associations relevant to our business, including:-Consumer representative groups-Retail and fashion associations-Small business organizations-Afterpay's long term narrative around millennials, Gen Z, small business and wider economic contribution.-Support the company's policy efforts in Canada.
Applicants should have the ability to:-Manage and cultivate relationships.-Understand complex policy documents with the ability to simplify for non-policy audiences.-Be willing to build a team over time.-Work closely with the Afterpay’s product and engineering teams to distil technical concepts into easy-to-understand communications materials that showcase innovation.
Basic qualifications-10+ years experience in public affairs, government, legal and/or policy roles.-Bachelor’s degree in law, economics, public policy or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred qualifications-Subject-matter experience in tech and financial services.-Demonstrated ability to work calmly and maintain good judgment in fast-paced environments.-Ability to plan and execute on multiple projects simultaneously, and to influence stakeholders.-Being a team-player who can divvy up difficult projects and work well with a number of cross-functional teammates.-Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
