About the Role
Our Partner Success team is an elite team of merchant-facing problem solvers who are accountable for the relationships with our merchants. This team optimizes Afterpay’s program and services in order to equip them in a fast-changing landscape. We’re seeking a leader for this team who will ensure that Afterpay is a relevant, long-term, value-creating partner for our merchants, in turn creating value for Afterpay.This role requires team building and management experience. In addition, strategic thinking, deal making abilities, and contract negotiation skills are an important part of the job as you will oversee account renewals and renegotiations with our managed accounts. Also critical to success is internal and external relationship building. Internally, you will be in touch with other regions' Partner Success leaders at Afterpay in an effort to coordinate international expansion, manage global accounts effectively, ensure we are cross-selling globally, and share best practices and materials. You will also need to sell Afterpay against competitive threats, and maintain a full understanding of our products and services in order to secure adoption across the merchant network.As VP of the Partner Success team, you are responsible for the retention, growth, and expansion of our merchant partners. This requires that the team meets merchant needs at the highest level possible, bringing new product and marketing ideas to life by way of perpetual feedback between merchant and our Product, Marketing, and Technology teams.

What You'll Do
-Architect and be accountable for the execution of a long-term win/win joint business plan with our most valuable merchant partners-Contextualize Afterpay’s portfolio of products and services so the benefit to the merchant business is apparent-Identify new and innovative opportunities that will realize success for our merchants-Navigate Afterpay’s resources on behalf of the merchant including Product, Risk, Marketing and other functions whom the merchant relies on for their success-Build and manage a team of trusted Key Account Managers-Effectively and proactively manage and engage merchant partners in discussions and reviews on business performance, existing product and marketing ideas, implementation of best practices, and partner’s strategic initiatives.-Own broad, C-level relationships across the partner organization, and cultivate those through in-person meetings, ongoing dialogues, and partner entertaining.-Navigate challenges and objections from partners in real-time discussions-Use data to build Afterpay’s business case and address partner inquiries or concerns, and effectively communicate results of internal analyses to partners.-Collaborate with the team and manage negotiation strategies for partner renewals, and successfully execute on those strategies to drive contract extensions.-Coordinate and collaborate with other regional Partner Success leaders regarding management and expansion of global accounts and development of best practices-Leverage the analytics team with suggestions and feedback on new merchant insights and new data and analysis that informs even better performance for our merchants-Aggregate and deliver key retailer insights to Product, Marketing, and Sales organizations in structured, consistent, and proactive manner.-Promote the voice of the merchant across Afterpay, ensuring we are ‘eyes-on’ their needs at all times-Assign and monitor partner launch process.
Who You Are
-15+ yrs in a client-facing account management or business development position-Robust understanding of the retail landscape-Strong commercial acumen with a focus on mutually beneficial outcomes-A track-record of growing accounts and earning trust-A track-record of team building, excellent decision making, and success-Experience building and delivering impactful presentations to executive-level decision-makers-Negotiation skills as evident from previous experience working within varying cost structures-A problem-solver who loves to deliver high quality support, someone who cares-Comfortable with travel (20-30% of the time)
