THE ROLE
Are you ready to tackle one of the biggest health challenges in the biomedical equipment ecosystem? We’re looking for a passionate Data Analyst to lead data management, synthesis, analysis, and interpretation for two technology pilots in Kenyawith an additional pilot on the way in Ethiopiaall in the Neonatal amp; Intensive Care Unit and life-saving equipment management sector.
The ideal candidate is someone who has a passion for data-driven solutions and is excited about rapidly prototyping analyses and beautiful, interpretable visualizations for an innovative multi-country project. You will partner with our diverse team to bring a user-centered approach to improve sector knowledge on the interdependencies among power availability, power quality, and biomedical equipment use. You will lead discussions contextualizing IoT sensor data from countries and stakeholders to gain a deep understanding of the needs of end-users on the ground to inform the design and development of new IoT technologies and data platforms.

In this role, you will:
Drive Data Management and Analytics
- Manage, organize, synthesize, and integrate multiple data sets from existing and historical projects, ranging from quantitative time series data to qualitative interview data
- Drive data analysis and interpretation including impact metrics/indicators and statistics
- Explore and analyze new sensor data streams, such as biomedical equipment utilization and performance, and advise the program on the best ways to leverage them for use-case development, bringing actionable insights and value to the users
- Drive the evaluation of data quality, adapting approaches as needed
Advocate for Global Data
- Gain a deep understanding of how the data analytics and products we generate resonate with governments and funders
- Synthesize end-user feedback to inform our development and design of innovative data visualizations, reports, and dashboards, ensuring they meet the needs of the users
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to produce write-ups and lean data-driven reports that motivate stakeholders to improve their decision-making, actions, and impact
- Participate in user research, through interviews with data-oriented stakeholders

- Make data-driven statements, articulating assumptions, and testing and validating those assumptions
- Advise program leads and partners on strengths and limitations of the data, data collection tools, and data sources
- Design program evaluations to ensure we are constantly learning and improving on our data approaches
- Drive the use and explore the potential of the data beyond the norms of descriptive analytics alone
- Build knowledge and expertise of the sector: the data, data use, users, and stakeholders.
- Support and own deliverables for workshops and represent Nexleaf at conferences
Requirements
- 5+ years experience working with quantitative and qualitative data, including analyzing and interpreting real-world imperfect data
- Ability to perform, rapid, iterative, exploratory analyses
- Experience working with time series data
- Ability to visualize and communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way
- Ability to formulate, validate, and articulate challenges, assumptions/risks, hypotheses and key data takeaways
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, as well as mathematical skills (e.g., statistics, algebra)
- Proficiency or expertise in a programming language like Python or R
- Knowledge of statistical modeling including use of common statistical and data analysis libraries
- Proficient technical writing skills and ability to produce lean reports and documents
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, public speaking and relationship building skills
- Can thrive in an early-stage program and be willing to adapt to changing priorities and demands of the program
