We are looking for a management consultant to join our team and support a large, well-known nonprofit client.

Requirements

About You

  • Aligned with our approach to client service
  • Client-facing consulting experience, proven track record prioritizing, managing and balancing client needs. 7-10 years; title and salary will be commensurate
  • Strong experience with project methodologies and management, business analysis, change management, and/or process improvement
  • Experience managing budgets and connecting budgets with strategy and desired outcomes.
  • A polished communicator, both spoken and written
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills with the ability to produce well-thought-out recommendations
  • Comfortable working with minimal direction
  • Organized, detail-oriented, with strong time-management skills
  • Bachelor’s degree


About the Work

With guidance and support from North amp; Main, support a senior client (Acting Program Office Head) in a strategic transformation, including developing action plans for achieving goals, aligning budgets and personnel to goals, and measuring progress.

Leadership

  • Day-to-day support for the Office Head on strategy, planning and operations
  • Support the program’s directors with issues surrounding strategic planning and implementation; provide insights and recommendations to Office Head
  • First line problem solving; provides recommendations to Office Head

Strategy and Planning

  • Leads strategy implementation with support from Acting OH, Program Office, Div Heads and North amp; Main. Involves working with staff to develop annual and long-term plans for projects and indicators for measuring progress
  • Participates with top management and high-level decision-makers in strategic planning and fundraising. Accompanies or represents the Director in meetings and internal meetings with senior leadership to gather information and strategies for developing and laying the groundwork for strategic planning, program development, and fundraising needs.
  • Ensures that new initiatives align with strategic priorities and resources.
  • Develops and prepares planning and scheduling documents/templates for tracking, monitoring, budgeting, and evaluating the progress of program initiatives.
  • In conjunction with the Planning Office, develops evaluation mechanisms/templates designed to give OH/ management consistent and effective feedback on all aspects of projects

Finance/Administration

  • Provides financial forecasts, working with Leadership and the Senior Manager for Administration to prepare an annual budget, ensures alignment with strategic plan objectives. Identifies gaps in funding and opportunities for fundraising.
  • Working with support from the Senior Manager for Administration, oversees spending throughout the year, establishing systems to track and monitor expenses.
  • Consults with directors on budget development to connect it with strategic planning.
  • Flags needs/concerns to Acting OH

Change Management

  • Responsible for developing a change management and staff engagement plan, in consultation with Acting OH.


Our work is currently all remote. As circumstances change, we may revert to in-person work at the client site in Washington, D.C.
