Job Description

Parento is changing the way companies support their working parents. As the first provider for paid parental leave, we help companies retain and promote more employees when they inevitably have children. Our first-of-its-kind paid parental leave insurance enables companies to offer genuine paid maternity and paternity leave to all employees.

We're an early-stage startup creating a completely new category, and we're looking for the right person to activate and build out our existing direct and broker sales channels. We’ve raised money from early investors in Indiegogo, Plated, Omaze, and Carrot, among others.

This position plays a key role in advancing our mission of expanding access to paid parental leave by reaching companies, benefits brokers, advisors, consultants, and PEOs. This role will work closely with the CEO to establish the sales strategy amp; process, training, and onboarding of new brokers and clients. You'll seek out new opportunities, develop leads, win new business, and set (and beat) metrics.

We're looking for a resourceful go-getter that can set a strategy and directly execute against it with little oversight, and directly contribute to the execution of our mission. No job is too big or too little for you, you do whatever it takes. This isn't just some sales role, it plays a key role in building this company from the ground up. This is a fully remote role.

Responsibilities:

  • Build agent and broker relationships, find sources, and be creative in placing risks and identifying opportunities
  • Refine and run the sales process from partner identification to case identification to sales calls to close
  • Develop and execute broker and client engagement strategies
  • Be entrenched in the employee benefits industry and attend conferences, speak where opportunities exist and be the face of Parento
  • Handle accounts from SMB to mid-sized firms across our entire footprint: the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Mountain, and additional regions as we expand
  • Manage broker relationships and serve as lead client contact
  • Rate, quote, and bind each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing for renewals as well as new business

Requirements

  • Desire to build a business, not just a book of business
  • Parento is an early-stage startup; candidates must be scrappy, nimble, and handle ambiguity
  • Past carrier or insurance sales experience in the HR or benefits space, required
  • Self-starter and motivated to achieve
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possess good problem solving and analytical skills
