Job Description

SPT Labtech is a global supplier of innovative products for accelerating drug discovery. We enable breakthroughs in life science research through best-in-class engineering. To support our growing business across the breadth of our portfolio, we are seeking a Territory Manager to serve the Northern California Region of the US. The role of the territory manager is to ensure achievement of territory sales objectives in line with the company mission; to develop and implement sales plans through strategic and tactical activities, and to provide regular feedback on the status of specific sales opportunities, the market and competitor activities.

As a candidate for this position, you will be proactive, enthusiastic, conscientious, and self-motivated, with a strong background in life sciences and capital equipment sales/purchases. Working closely with local engineering and application support people, you will have ready access to highly skilled colleagues with existing product knowledge and customer relationships. Being that we are a global company, you will also be working with colleagues from across multiple time zones and territories, requiring some flexibility in meeting schedules. As a home-based employee, you will have flexibility in your scheduled appointments with customers and colleagues, allowing you to balance your work and personal responsibilities. You will be expected to enhance territory business plans by drawing on internal resources in sales, applications, marketing, product management and development to meet and exceed budgetary expectations. You will be adept at balancing relationship-building in existing accounts with engagement of new prospects in emerging application areas across our full product portfolio.

Key Job Expectations/Skills:

  • Effective prospecting to drive growth of new products and/or application areas for existing products
  • Develop a strong product knowledge (genuine interest in company, products and science)
  • Management of key accounts to drive repeat sales as well as to derive new opportunities within them
  • Ability to understand the science and process that our prospects and customers are involved in to contribute fully to the opportunity qualification process
  • Ability to map large accounts and position our products in various departments within an account to recognize who the buying influences are in terms of financial, technical and how they relate and work together to arrive at the buying decision
  • Superior time management skills.

Requirements

Education/Qualifications:

  • Proven work experience in capital equipment sales with a strong preference for experience in selling life science tools to Pharma, Academic and/or government laboratories
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence key stakeholders at all levels of an organization
  • Experience in delivering client-focused solutions
  • Superior listening, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in liquid handling, genomics, structural biology and/or high throughput screening highly preferred.
  • Experience with CRM software.
