Job Description

We are looking for someone that's excited to join a mission-driven, rapidly growing startup. In order to fulfill our mission of helping people and saving lives, we need to quickly expand our team of drivers that notify vehicles with open safety recalls out on the road. In this role, you'll primarily be responsible for working with our operations teams to recruit those drivers as quickly as possible. In addition, we'll also need you to step in and support with HR tasks as we work on building out the recruiting and HR team, which you will help us do!


Specifically, you will:


  • Support the organization with recruiting, which includes job posting, screening of candidates, and offer letter preparation. Initially, recruiting will be primarily focused on our driver operations.
  • Facilitate pre-employment processing with Carma's PEO. This includes the administration of background and motor vehicle record checks.
  • Manage the onboarding of new employees and contractors. Assist with the scheduling and delivery of new hire orientation and training, I-9 completion, health benefit orientations, ensuring attendance and registration for required training, development and completion of procedural checklists ensuring to update as required and auditing for quality control, ensure proper completion of new hire documentation and notification to the payroll process.
  • Assist with Health amp; Welfare Benefit communication including new employee online enrollments, annual open enrollment, benefit orientations, required mailings and/or e-distribution of documents, drafting employee communications, resolving employee inquiries, interfacing with benefits broker for resolution of issues when needed.
  • Be responsible for records management and personnel file maintenance.
  • Ensure archiving of records for terminated employees.
  • Manage off-boarding process including the request for final paychecks, system access (various platforms) / security termination, termination of benefits, completion of off-boarding procedural checklists, and adherence with quality control measures.
  • Support key compliance initiatives on an ongoing basis and drafts required employee/manager communication.
  • Perform research, creates presentations, and conducts training in support of key organizational training development and initiatives.
  • Supervise change management and quality control of employee changes - notification to payroll and records management in accordance with employee change management procedures.
  • Compile data and prepares reports, synthesizes complex data, and participates in audit preparation.
  • Assist with performance management process and manager coaching utilizing Culture Amp.
  • Attend staff, departmental, and required meetings.
  • Assist with scheduling Company events including: luncheons, training, holiday festivities, etc.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A strong desire to work at a mission-driven company.
  • Experience working at a high-growth technology or logistics start-up.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, human resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • 3-5 years or more of HR experience
  • HR certification preferred (or desire to obtain soon)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Google Suite.
  • The ability to create training presentations using PowerPoint/G-Slides is a plus!
  • Strong listener, who approaches opportunity and conflict with the same curiosity.
  • High standards, and a respect for the continuous improvement process.
  • Exceptional professionalism, communication, and organizational skills.
  • A team-first mentality, with the ability to learn on the fly and the willingness to follow a process when available.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is a strong plus!
