Job Description

Nexleaf is a nonprofit technology company that believes when people are equipped with better data, they are empowered to build a healthier and equitable world for all. We are committed to transforming global health systems using data-driven insights.

We have built a team of curious skeptics, data lovers, social justice advocates, forward-thinking computer scientists, and public health experts that are on a mission to rethink how life-saving solutions are designed and delivered. Partnering with leading organizations such as Google.org, Gavi, Qualcomm, and the Bill amp; Melinda Gates Foundation, we are focused on measurable and long-lasting impact.

THE ROLE

Do you want to play a role in ensuring vaccines are distributed effectively around the world? We’re looking for someone with a passion for data-driven solutions and visual storytelling that is excited about using data to unlock insights for governments and stakeholders to make decisions at scale.. Reporting to the Director for Vaccine Programs, you’ll help our team protect and support the infrastructure required to get safe vaccines to 1 in 10 children born each year.

Our team works with governments to ensure they have the data needed to manage strong cold chains, and partners to solve gaps in knowledge and programmatic need. You’ll ensure that Nexleaf is making data-driven statements, articulating assumptions, and following a process of testing and validating those assumptions. We believe the right data can transform vaccine delivery around the world, and we’re looking for a teammate with ambitions as big as ours!

In this role, you will:

  • Explore and learn about new data sources and advise the program on the best ways to leverage them
  • Drive the evaluation of data quality, adapting approaches as needed, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement

Deliver Actionable Data

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand user needs, data use cases and develop clear and compelling data products that transform data into interactive and dynamic visualizations that convey insights, demonstrate results, and communicate findings in an understandable and visually appealing way
  • Rapidly prototype analyses based on proactive feedback collection from program leads and end-users (governments, Ministries of Health, NGOs, etc.)
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to produce write-ups and lean data-driven reports offering interpretations of data, insights, and recommendations that motivate stakeholders to improve their impact and decision-making

Bring Leadership to Data Analysis and Use

  • Develop and maintain expertise on available data relating to vaccines and vaccine delivery to inform program growth and possible opportunities
  • Contribute to development of project plans, including identifying opportunities around data analysis and use, timelines, scope, and deliverables
  • Advise program leads and partners on strengths and limitations of the data, data collection tools, and necessary data sources
  • Collaborating to drive the use and possibilities of the data beyond the norms of just providing descriptive analytics
  • Effectively communicate our results, approaches, and the data’s significance to cross functional partners and internal teams
  • Maintain understanding of country data information systems and proactively identify opportunities for collaboration with or contribution to existing platforms
  • Work with Vaccine Team to design and implement program evaluations to ensure we are constantly learning and using data to improve our approach

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience working with quantitative, time series data, including analyzing and interpreting real-world imperfect data
  • Skilled in data visualization, including identifying key hypothesis as well as validating existing hypotheses, from conceptualizing to execution and design
