JLM Strategic Talent Partners is currently looking for a Safety Manager with experience in the construction industry to be a part of a major project in Norfolk, VA. This is an exciting opportunity to join a major project with a leading company in the industry with tremendous career growth.
Responsibility
- Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace and at the project according to legal guidelines
- Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
- Evaluate practices and procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the regulations
- Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
- Monitor compliance to policies and regulations
- Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
- Investigate accidents and incidents
- Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
- Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
- Reviewing blueprints, ventilation systems, and lighting
- Mapping out emergency evacuation plans, including locations for fire extinguishers and first-aid kits
- Inspecting equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
- Consulting building codes, government regulations and other emergency response agencies in order to ensure that the workplace is compliant with health, safety and environmental regulations
Requirements
- 2-5 years of professional experience in safety management of major urban projects
- Current CHST certification
- Certificate from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals
- Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
- Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
- Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
- BS in safety management or relevant field is preferred
