Job Description

About the Role:

Collectively is dedicated to maintaining and developing our culture of collaboration, employee experience, and diversity as we grow, and we need an exceptional Manager of People (HR) and Culture to play a key role in that.

This role requires a creative approach to people and culture programs and systems, with a focus on enriching the full-cycle employee experience within a fast-moving agency environment. The ideal candidate must be able to manage and support HR-related tasks and processes, balancing meticulous organization and compliance with exceptional people and culture instincts. As we look towards re-opening in 2021, this role will also manage our re-opening process and recruit and hire office support for our San Francisco headquarters. The ideal candidate should bring enthusiasm and positivity to every project and be able to operate both autonomously and in collaboration with everyone from new hires to executive team members.

This role reports to our Director of Operations amp; Finance.


Responsibilities:
Human Resources
  • Support amp; manage the full-cycle employee experience for Collectively employees, ensuring a supportive, employee-centric environment for team members in our SF, LA, NYC, and London offices.
  • Hold a permanent seat on our Diversity Council, serving as a project lead by managing the council meetings, creating action plans, and (where necessary) contributing work to support the Council’s work across training and development, events and programming, salary/role equity policies, and other initiatives
  • Act as the primary point of contact amp; liaison between employees and Collectively’s benefits amp; HR providers, ensuring our compliance with all regulations across California, New York, and London.
  • Manage our talent and recruiting process and experience, as well as new employee onboarding, including pre-arrival (IT, desk, prep, handbooks, resources), day-of (welcome, orientation, paperwork), and ongoing success check-ins
  • Facilitate our twice-yearly annual review cycles (Spring amp; Fall), guiding employees and managers through the process and ensuring administrative duties are supported
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of all full-time employees amp; contractors
  • Be a trusted resource for staff questions amp; concerns, focused on resolving challenges with empathy, maturity, and tact, including handling investigations and supporting communications strategy around employee performance plans
  • Manage exit interviews and corresponding data, communicating important trends and areas of concern
  • Ensure compliance to all city, state and country (US amp; UK) employment laws



Experience amp; Culture

  • Manage a consistent approach to employee listening, engagement, and appreciation (including surveys, events, surprise amp; delight, etc)
  • Oversee planning for Collectively’s two major staff events, our annual retreat and holiday party, as well as ongoing team events
  • With input from our organization’s culture committee, develop and implement a calendar of employee and organization-led events and experiences.
  • Actively encourage employee involvement in Collectively activities and events



Office Management amp; Facilities

  • When it is safe to do so, guide Collectively’s office re-opening strategy across SF, LA, NYC, and London.
  • Hire, train, and manage an Office Coordinator tasked with maintaining our offices as clean, efficient, wonderful places to work.
  • With the office coordinator, act as primary point of contact for vendors, including but not limited to IT support, contractors, supply providers, etc.
  • Source and order items for the Collectively office space

Requirements
  • Demonstrated expertise with at least 4+ years of experience in HR, culture, and employee services. Agency experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a culture of inclusion, equity, and diversity
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent follow through
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship skillswith direct colleagues and partners, vendors, and clients
  • Ability to work efficiently and manage time appropriately for projects, even when working independently
  • Discretion regarding sensitive information/materials
  • Appreciation for and interest in great hospitalitydesign, detail, and continuity in spaces
    and experiences, great food, authentic and warm interactions among people
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm for making great work happen
  • Interest in social media and digital marketing is a plus
