Job Description

Paradigm is looking for a SQL Server Database Administrator to support our client, a leader in the automotive sales industry, located in Wilsonville, OR. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting multiple versions of Microsoft SQL Server databases.

Type: Direct Hire, Full-time
Location: Remote (Wilsonville, OR)
Pay Rate: DOE

Responsibilities of the SQL Server Database Administrator:

  • Analyze, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing end-to-end problem resolution
  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
  • Assist in database design as needed with the expectation to research and recommend optimal design criteria
  • Publish standards and work with development staff to standardize the environment and improve efficiency
  • Use source control to track changes to the database
  • Use DevOps practices to install, maintain, and deploy changes to systems
  • Performance tuning and optimization of databases and stored procedures with the expectation that you will identify problems and implement solutions
  • Collaborate with infrastructure engineers to optimize the configuration of servers and storage systems
  • Install and maintain DBMS software using standard best practices
  • Provide day-to-day monitoring, optimization, database maintenance, and developer support
  • Track issues and document changes
  • Develop, troubleshoot and optimize T-SQL scripts
  • Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members
  • Refine and automate regular processes and support and enhance backup and recovery procedures
  • Design, enhance, and maintain the database environment's security by performing periodic audits, maintaining user and object-level permissions, and overseeing patching of the database environments to ensure they are secure
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support for critical production systems

Requirements

Our skills and experience wish list includes:

  • 8+ years of experience supporting multiple versions of Microsoft SQL Server databases as a Database Administrator
  • Experience with performance monitoring, database backups, and recovery
  • Knowledgeable on database performance tuning and SQL optimization
  • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for SQL Server
  • Experience with backups, restores, and recovery models
  • Experience with writing complex T-SQL code, as well as troubleshooting and optimizing existing code
  • Experience with PowerShell
  • Working knowledge of data security, user authentication, and authorization
  • Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
  • Advanced process automation knowledge for deployments, maintenance routines, alerts
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment, across varying timezones

Preferred

  • Experience with SQLSentry, Visual Studio Code, and Azure Data Studio
  • Cloud Experience (AWS, Azure, Google)
  • Server Virtualization using Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware
  • Experience supporting web applications in a SaaS environment
  • Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL
  • Experience with NO-SQL systems such as MongoDB, Elasticsearch, and Solr
