The Senior Staff Accountant, Accounts Payable is responsible for the implementation of GovX Accounts Payable functions, including oversight of other team members. These functions include:
- Ensuring vendor invoices and credits are entered and properly classified within accounting software
- Assembling disbursements to be reviewed and processed, payable to the appropriate entities in amounts no greater than obligated
- Exposing potential problems or process improvements and communicating them to your supervisor
- Responding to vendor inquiries
- Taking measures, both preventive and mitigating, to minimize incorrect or fraudulent disbursements
- Maintaining pertinent vendor data within accounting software
- Reconciling and preparing 1099s
- Preparing employee expense reimbursements
- Manual data entry
- Managing vendor accounts
- Developing rapport with vendors
- Taking advantage of credit terms while remaining in good credit standing
- Coordinating 3-way matching of inventory invoices
- Assisting in other business functions such as budgets, financial statement audit, general ledger reporting, and other duties, as assigned
WORK ENVIRONMENT: - This job operates in a professional office environment in accordance with applicable COVID-19 business guidelines. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS - Physical - This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Requirements
The minimum level of education and experience for this position includes:
- Bachelors degree (accounting or other business-related area preferred)
- 1+ years relevant experience
- Effective verbal, written, and virtual conferencing communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Proficient to Advanced Microsoft Excel expertise
